Fun at Work: Another Reason to Make Over Your Space

Concept Technology was intrigued by Advent’s offer to take a look at their environment.  They are an outsourced IT department with a strategic message of being an established and trustworthy partner. Concept Technology serves many small businesses in the middle-TN area and cares about its team members and their families as well as their clients. President James Fields wanted to convey this by making capital improvements to his office space. He challenged our team to develop their internal branding and messaging in order to make it a “cool” place to work for the Concept employees.  Fields says, “As an IT services firm, our clients do not come to us; we go to them. Our lobby branding project serves to help us continue to recruit top IT talent to grow our team. It also continues to reinforce the values and principles that have set us apart from our competition.”

The Advent team loves challenges like these. After walking through the discovery process together to ensure we understood their culture, we brainstormed a host of design ideas to generate the desired fun atmosphere. Our makeover suggestions included colorful and warm paint schemes along with key business themes (applied in cut vinyl), contemporary signage, custom furniture, wire management and a custom map showing the locations of their clients. An LCD flat screen for an ongoing news feed and wall-mounted graphics were chosen to complete the new look. In addition to the above elements, the project included some flooring and structural upgrades.

This successful makeover is a great reward for the hard-working Concept Team. Since this was for internal culture, there was not an aggressive timeline. Nevertheless, the makeover was completed in 6–8 weeks and has spiced up the space in the way Fields hoped it would.
