In 2016, Pittsburgh’s basketball brand was in a state of change, including a re-brand to the classic “Pitt Script,” a recent move to the ACC and a new coach for the men’s team. Advent’s designs at the Petersen Event Center and the Lignelli Family Practice Gym connect the city of Pittsburgh, the history of both programs and an eye to the future.
In the Petersen Event Center, the Pitt Script re-brand is a focal point with a halo-lit logo. Further, Advent helped create a new tradition with an image of Pitt’s Cathedral of Learning that will be lit in the arena after a victory. This element also provides a focal point highlighting oversized graphics of Pitt’s four retired jerseys. The exterior of the courtside luxury suites also have been augmented with subtle graphics of Pitt’s iconic Oakland Zoo student section.
In the Lignelli Family Practice Gym, a utilitarian practice facility is now adorned with story. Large rafters were painted Pitt gold, a homage to the Steel City’s professional sports teams and iconic bridges. Wall coverings connecting the Oakland Zoo, the university mission, former Panthers in the pros and numerology serve to inspire the men and women who train here.
Altogether, Panthers basketball players and fans will find themselves enveloped by a vibrant city, a rich program history and passionate fan base.
