Clay Steakley

Head of Story

Over the course of his career, Clay has written about topics ranging from film to farms and punk rock to parking lots. Prior to coming onboard with Advent, he worked for Guitar Center, the world’s largest musical instrument retailer, where he wrote campaigns including product guides and editorial interviews. He has written compelling and successful copy for architecture firms, theatre companies and schools, and his journalism credits include Paste, Performing Songwriter Magazine and more.

Joining Advent also brings Clay back to his hometown of Nashville after several years on the West Coast, and he is excited to return to the land of real cornbread, old friends and four real seasons (though he’s on the fence about the humidity thing). He earned bachelor’s degrees in both theatre and English from Belmont University, and he has worked as a professional musician and actor.

When he’s not writing at work, Clay can often be found… writing at home. He writes novels, short stories and plays, and he’s typically either writing a book or reading one. He enjoys going on adventures with his wife and daughter, from traveling and exploring the outdoors to visiting new restaurants, old bookstores and every museum that crosses his path.
